How does a sunflower grow?


Pick up your complimentary sunflower seeds from Epping hall St Johns road.Plant the seeds directly into pots or directly into your garden soil.Sunflower prefer grow in a full sunny position of your garden, choose a well-drained location too.

Water your sunflower every day and feed with a diluted liquid fertilizer solution once a week.Stake your sunflower by using a bamboo cane as it grows as it can become top flowering heavy.

How to plant a funky shoe garden


Enter our Epping in bloom funky shoe garden competition 

Make drainage holes around the front of shoes and wellingtons by using a sharp knife or screwdriver to do this.You can make holes into the sole but as this is area can be quite thick it's quite difficult to do without using a drill.Place in a handful of grit into the bottom then fill with a multi purpose soil and plants of your choice.Submit a photo of your funky show garden to eppinginbloom@gmail.com by the 31st August 2015

The greystripe is a giant sunflower plant that produces giant flower heads.If you decide to plant your seeds in pots or directly into the ground allow 10 to 14 for germination. 

This sunflower is very easy to grow in most garden soils.Well-drained soil is preferred.  

You can start your seeds off in pots on a sunny window sill or in a green house.Plant out your sunflowers plants into your garden after all danger of frost has gone away.You can sow the seeds directly into the soil from the beginning of June.

Feed your sunflower plants weekly using a diluted liquid fertilizer solution and water regularly.
